Microwave ovens can be found in many different styles to suit the decor of your kitchen. Some have a left-to-right swing-out door, while others feature a drop-down style that opens in the same manner as an oven that is traditional. You can also get an oven and microwave that opens inside a drawer, similar to a cabinet. The microwave drawers can be easily accessible and are perfect for small space.
Combination microwaves can also provide various features that aid in meal preparation and more convenient. For instance, certain models have sensors for steam cycles that automatically adjusts the time and temperature of your food to ensure that you receive perfectly steamed veggies and fish. Other features include the broil element, which allows you to quickly melt cheese and cook your favorite food. Crispwave(tm) in turn can cook, grill, and crisp food items.
When selecting microwave built , make sure to take into consideration how often you'll use each function. If you'll use the oven more frequently than the microwave, you may prefer an oven that doubles as a wall. Energy Efficiency
A built in microwave oven combo can provide a great space saving option for those who have smaller kitchens, whether they reside in a house or apartment. They can help to reduce the amount of the space in cabinets that would be occupied by two separate appliances. Additionally, they can also help reduce energy usage. They are more energy efficient than traditional wall ovens and provide an efficient method to cook. In addition, they can be used to cook both food and warm dishes, which reduces the requirement for additional appliances such as toasters or warming plates.
In evaluating the possibility of amending energy conservation standards, DOE conducts several analyses which include assessment of technology and market conditions screening analysis, engineering analysis and national impacts analysis (NIA). In this SNOPR, DOE will utilize its existing engineering analysis on microwave ovens to determine what degree of efficiency improvement is feasible for this product type.
In the engineering analysis, DOE will compare the design parameters of a microwave against an energy performance set of goals. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.
As part of NIA, DOE will assess the effects on consumers, such as the cost savings throughout the lifecycle and simple payback period (PBP). DOE will use the Government Regulatory Impact Model, with an adaptation for ovens that can be microwaved to calculate the industry net present value (NPV).
DOE will also evaluate the effects on manufacturers and will employ an altered industry cash flow model specifically tailored to this type of product to estimate manufacturing NPV. DOE will also examine the effects of these proposals on small businesses and other manufacturing subgroups to identify those that may be disproportionately affected.
DOE will also consider whether the test procedure for microwave ovens needs to be updated in order to include active mode power consumption and an integrated energy use metric. At present, the test procedures only provide standby mode power usage.
Design
Microwaves create heat through the process of causing water molecules to vibrate in food. Wall ovens depend on the circulation of hot air, while microwaves rely on waves to cause food molecules to vibrate. Combination wall ovens combine these two different appliances into one unit that can be used to save kitchen space and offers an elegant, modern look. You must carefully take into consideration your budget and goals before purchasing a combination wall oven. Several of the combination wall ovens in our ratings have issues with performance or design.
